Father of three, former NFL wide receiver turned CrossFit coach, James Townsend made headlines in 2017. A CrossFiter and fitness enthusiast, Townsend had opened the doors to the gym for his eldest child Prisais Townsend when she was only ten months old. By the time Prisais Townsend turned four, she was doing CrossFit, weightlifting, and gymnastics. Townsend also started training his other kids. In his latest Instagram post, the CrossFit coach’s three-year-old daughter demonstrated incredible strength while performing a fundamental bodybuilding exercise.

The former NFL wide receiver also wrote about some facts in the caption of his post. So what incredible feat of strength did the three-year-old pull off? And what facts did Townsed reveal? Let’s find out.

Townsend originally published the video on TikTok and reposted the TikTok clip to Instagram. In the video, James Townsend filmed his three-year-old daughter Freya Ann doing squats. Despite being just three, the strong girl did five reps with 10 lb weight plates on the bar as her father spotted her from behind. However, in the later part of the video, Freya Ann showcased an even more impressive feat of strength.

Before attempting the next set of squats, her elder sister Prisais Townsend enthusiastically says, “My sister’s about to do a big squat!” Her father then asked his three-year-old daughter how much she was about to squat. The strong kid said she was about to squat 31 lbs and did it for three reps with relative ease. In the caption, her father drew attention to Freya Ann’s “good form.”

“Under strict supervision, proper technique, and proper programming, weightlifting for pre-pubescent kids is very beneficial for their growth and development,” Townsend wrote. He also substantiated his claim by saying the American Academy of Pediatrics said the same thing. “It (weight training) does not affect their growth, linear growth, or cardiovascular system,” added the three-year-old’s father. People in the comments were in awe of the little one’s strength and also praised her father’s effort. However, the internet is often divided on such subjects.

Last month, personal trainer Boom Lumbus shared a video of a one-year-old toddler lifting weights in the gym. Like James Townsend’s three-year-old daughter, the kid in the video was also doing squats. However, many people disapproved. People left comments like “Not well for the child’s joints,” and “U going stunt that boy growth and give him a hernia.”
